FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What is WellBuddy?
WellBuddy is a smart well water level monitor that tracks your water level and sends alerts before low water conditions cause pump damage or downtime. It replaces manual checking methods like tape measures with automatic monitoring and notifications.
2. How does WellBuddy work?
WellBuddy is a battery operated device that uses WiFi to continuously monitor your well’s water level and sends alerts when levels drop below a set threshold. Notifications are delivered by text, email or both so you can take action before problems occur. Batteries can last 3-5 years even in extreme cold, and are easily replaceable.
3. Do I need WiFi that reaches my well?
Yes you do. If you do not have WiFi that will reach, a WiFi extender can absolutely be used. We are currently working on a LTE network version. Stay tuned!
4. Does WellBuddy require professional installation?

5. How long does installation take?
Installation typically takes less than 30 minutes. No special tools or advanced technical knowledge are required.
6. How do I mount the WellBuddy unit?
We recommend securing the WellBuddy unit to your well casing using zip ties for a simple and reliable installation. If you prefer to drill into the well casing, be sure to properly seal all holes with weatherproof silicone to prevent moisture intrusion.
The stainless steel sensor is designed to hang freely inside the well and can be lowered to your desired depth.
7. How do I receive alerts?
WellBuddy sends instant low-water alerts by text message and email. This allows you to haul water, shut down equipment, or address issues before damage occurs. Another alert is sent when water level returns to normal.
8. How accurate are the water level readings?
WellBuddy provides consistent, reliable water level readings suitable for everyday monitoring. The sensor has the perfect amount of sensitivity within millimeters. It removes guesswork and reduces the need for manual measurements.
9. Is WellBuddy suitable for rural and farm use?
Yes. WellBuddy is built for rural homes, farms, ranches, and remote properties where reliable well monitoring is critical. It’s designed to work in real-world conditions.
10. Is there a subscription or hidden fees?
No. WellBuddy does not require a subscription, and there are no hidden monthly fees. You purchase the device and use it without ongoing costs.
11. Can I cut my cord to the length I need?
Yes! Simply unplug the two wires from your unit. Press down the small lever next to each pinhole to release the wire, then gently pull the wire out. Cut your cord to your desired length then strip the two wires. To reinstall, simply insert the wire back into the pinhole and release the lever—it will lock automatically. The connector is not polarity-sensitive, so the two wires can be inserted in either position.
12. Why does the WellBuddy cord arrive coiled, and how do I straighten it?
To keep your WellBuddy safe during shipping, the cord is packaged in a tight coil. If it feels stiff when you unpack it, don’t worry. Just place it in the sun for around 30 minutes, and the warmth will help it soften and straighten naturally.
13. How long will it take to receive my WellBuddy?
50ft, 100ft, and 150ft sizes are in stock and ship within 1–3 business days. Delivery typically takes 1–2 weeks.
Sizes over 150ft are made to order and require additional production time. Please allow 2–4 weeks for delivery.
